Sheffield heroes help cyclist who fell off his bike and fractured his skull in horror crash

Tom was cycling home from work at around 2.20am on Friday, October 2 when he came off his bike at the junction of Glossop Road and Upper Hanover Street, Broomhall.

He was knocked unconscious and assisted by two men who witnessed the crash.

They stayed with him until emergency services arrived to take over.

One of the men removed his top to help stem the flow of blood from Tom’s head wound.

Tom, who was an army medic 30 years ago, wants to thank the pair and replace the damaged shirt.

He said: “I came off my bike and was knocked unconscious.

“Two men on the opposite side of road saw it happen, came to my aid, stopped the bleeding and called an ambulance, according to ambulance crew that treated me.

“I regained my senses when the ambulance crew arrived about 10 mins later.

“It makes sense as I was holding someone else’s shirt against my head at A&E and my phone doesn’t show any outgoing calls at that time.

“I was taken to the Northern General and received a CT scan, where a fractured skull was observed.”

He added: “I am extremely grateful to the two men that happened to be walking by and who assisted me.

“I would like to contact them, thank them and replace the T-shirt.

“I was dazed, concussed, and didn't think to get their names or contact numbers.”
