South Yorkshire Police arrest man on suspicion of attempted abduction of teenage girls

A man has been arrested by South Yorkshire Police on suspicion of the attempted abduction of two teenage girls.

The man was arrested and held in custody for questioning yesterday.

Rotherham South Neighbourhood Policing Team said the arrest was made following reports from two teenage girls of suspicious incidents in Wickersley and Bramley.

At around 11am on Wednesday, September 30, a man in a black car was reported to have been behaving suspiciously in the Sycamore Avenue area of Wickersley.

The man is reported to have asked a passing 17-year-old girl to approach the car.

She did not comply and the car was driven away.

On Thursday, October 1, South Yorkshire Police received reports of a similar nature in the Ferndale Drive area of Bramley.

Police patrols have been step up following the reports and CCTV footage is being examined.
