The Sheffield Giants have issued an open invitation to its experience days on November 20 and December 11.

The club changed its name from the Predators in the wake of the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal, and is now looking ahead to a new season.

Anyone aged 14 and over is welcome at the experience days, which will take place at the Tapton School 3G Pitches in Darwin Lane.

Experience is not necessary, and all equipment will be provided, but anyone who wants to participate in full-contact tackling should bring their own gumshield.

Sheffield Giants general manager Toby Chesters said: “This is the first chance for people to come and meet the team behind the newly-named Sheffield Giants.

"We’re hoping for a big turnout. We are looking for lots of new recruits for our spring/summer 2017 season across the board, for our youth, junior, adult and flag teams. There is room for everyone who enjoys physical activity to join in the fun, as long as they are aged 14 or above.

“You don’t need to be built like a bulldozer to be a Giant. American football is about skill, discipline and quick thinking, as much as it is about athleticism.

“So come along and have fun with us – I guarantee you’ll enjoy yourself."
