Prime Minister Andy Burnham has been pictured holding up Sheffield FC’s new home shirt alongside Sheffield MP Louise Haigh.

The pair are pictured smiling proudly as they show off the shirt, which features Meadowhall across the front.
The world’s oldest football club sent the new shirt to Mr Burnham and Ms Haigh as it celebrates its links to Sheffield and the history of the game.
A Sheffield FC spokesperson said the club wanted to recognise the Government’s commitment to football and the role the game plays in communities across the country.
The spokesperson said: “We’ve been pleased to see the new Government’s commitment to football and the recognition of the important role the game plays in our communities, our cities and our country.
“We wanted to recognise that by sending the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, and our local MP and longtime Sheffield FC supporter, Louise Haigh, our new home shirt for the latest season.”
Sheffield FC was founded in 1857 and is recognised as the world’s oldest football club.
The club said: “The world’s first football club was born here in Sheffield – but what started here belongs to the City, the country and, ultimately, the whole world.
“Made in Sheffield. Britain’s gift to the world.”
The new shirt features the club’s traditional colours and Meadowhall branding across the front.
