Listed building dates back to the 1930s

Urgent repairs are set to be carried out to a Sheffield school’s listed building, after one if its walls failed.

High Storrs School, in Bents Green, has had to apply for planning permission for the work, because of its status as a grade two listed building dating back to the 1930s.

A report drawn up for the planning application stated the proposed works were to a single internal wall within the main school building only and were to remedy a structural failure to the ground floor.

It stated: “The objective of these works is to provide an urgent repair to a failed structural wall.

“The demolition and rebuild of this wall is essential to maintain the integrity of the building and Health and Safety of occupants. “

Sheffield Council this week granted planning permission for the work to go ahead.
