Six Sheffield bus lane cameras to go live in June - including four on one road

Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) of £70 will be issued

Six Sheffield bus lane cameras are set to go live on June 1 - including four on one road.

Sheffield City Council says the enforcement cameras will make public transport more attractive by improving journey times.

From June 1, cameras will automatically detect vehicles parking in bus lanes during the times when restrictions are in operation.

Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) of £70 will be issued to the registered keepers of offending vehicles, reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days.

However, during the first month, motorists will receive warning notices only rather than fines, the city council says.

The cameras are located on:

  • Abbeydale Road (corner of Miller Road)
  • Ecclesall Road (near Hickmott Road)
  • London Road (outside The Potato Oven)
  • London Road (corner of Keeton’s Hill)
  • London Road (near Bennett Street)
  • London Road (opposite Randall Place)

The authority says PCNs issued by Civil Enforcement Officers will still need to be paid or appealed in the usual way.

The cameras are part of Sheffield Council’s Connecting Sheffield: Abbeydale Road and Ecclesall Road project, which is part-funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
