Sheffield MP constituencies could change as boundaries are rejigged

The Boundary Commission has published initial proposals which people can view and comment on ahead of the changes coming into force in 2023.

A map shows how some council wards are split between two different constituencies so residents in the same ward may have a different MP.

Sheffield Central constituency would take in parts of Carterknowle and Banner Cross, part of Hillsborough around Regent Court flats and a few houses in Broomhill.

The Heeley constituency would extend northwards and take Manor, Park, Park Hill flats and parts of Arbourthorne from Central. Some parts of Lower Bradway and Abbeydale would also move from Sheffield Hallam to Heeley.

Certain areas of Neepsend and Hillsborough would move from their current Central constituency to Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough.

There's no great change in Sheffield South East apart from it taking in more of Richmond and there are no changes to Penistone and Stocksbridge.

Each constituency is required by law to contain between 69,724 and 77,062 electors - it's based on the number of people registered to vote, not how many live in the constituency.

The Boundary Commission says the number of constituencies in England will increase from 533 to 543 and "wide scale change" is inevitable. Under the proposals, under 10 per cent of the existing constituencies remain unchanged.
