Labour Liberal Democrats, Green, Conservative, Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, UK Independence (UKIP), Yorkshire, Social Democratic, Women’s Equality and Reform UK parties all have candidates in the running alongside independents.

Labour has lost control of the council after being defeated in eight seats.

This includes council leader Bob Johnson who lost his Hillsborough seat to the Green Party.

There is now no overall control of the authority.
