Sheffield anti-fascist group announces plan to 'stop' protest march to migrant hotel in city centre
Protesters are organising rival events in Sheffield
Anti-fascists in Sheffield say they plan to stop a protest march to a hotel housing migrants, stating ‘racism and fascism are not welcome on our streets’.
SCARF - Sheffield Communities Against Racism & Fascism - is urging people to attend the event on Saturday, June 13.
Raise the Colours Sheffield is organising a march against a ‘failed government’ and for ‘the protection of women and children’.

It is set to start in the Peace Gardens in Sheffield city centre and finish at a hotel on Blonk Street.
Promotional material states: “Enough is enough, we will be heard.”
It comes after a protest at Sheffield station on Saturday, April 4, to ‘save our children’s futures’.
It attracted an estimated 70 protesters, who faced a counter demonstration of some 200 anti-fascists.
The SCARF Facebook page states: “Not content with their last outing, when they waved a confusing array of flags around and failed to get a chant going, our local fascist group, Raise the Colours Sheffield, is planning on marching to a hotel housing migrants.
“We plan to stop them. Put it in your diary, be there, and let's show them that racism and fascism are not welcome on our streets.”
Raise the Colours previously charged £10 to put up two 3ft x 5ft flags, according to its Facebook page.
Recent posts request donation to ‘expand flags to roundabouts and main streets’.
It is also running a GoFundMe appeal organised by Graham Chambers. It states the money is to ‘bring our community closer and the pride of our country stronger’.
It has so far raised £2,010 raised from 101 donations.
