Plans submitted to turn former Dinnington dance studio back into church and community hub
Plans have been submitted to convert a former dance studio in Dinnington back into a place of worship and community hub, alongside building a new two-storey facility.
The proposal relates to 54 Rotherham Road, where applicant RCCG Grace Assembly is seeking permission to change the use of the building and construct a standalone community building at the rear.

The premises previously operated as a church before being converted into a dance studio, with the property marketed as a “former church premises” offering flexible space and a large car park.
Planning documents show the existing building would be used as a place of worship and community hall, while the new building would provide additional space for activities and services.
The applicant says the aim is to create a multi-purpose community hub offering support programmes and activities for residents in Dinnington and surrounding areas.
Proposed facilities include a community cafe and food bank, alongside workshops covering employability skills, IT training, financial literacy and parenting support.
The two-storey extension would be built to the rear of the existing property and designed using similar brick and render materials to match the current building, according to planning documents.
The applicant says the hub would also host youth activities, elderly support groups and adult learning sessions.
Documents submitted with the proposal acknowledge concerns about traffic and parking on Rotherham Road.
Measures suggested to manage this include running a minibus service for congregation members, encouraging car-sharing and promoting walking or cycling where possible.
The applicant says these steps are intended to minimise additional parking demand and avoid congestion during busy periods.
In planning documents, the organisation said the project aims to help tackle social isolation and anti-social behaviour by providing constructive activities and support services for young people and families.
