Sheffield road plagued by potholes to be resurfaced after months of campaigning
Work begins on pothole-ridden area
Residents in a Sheffield neighbourhood are set to see long-awaited road improvements, with resurfacing work due to begin next month following repeated concerns over the condition of the road.
The scheme on Hinde House Crescent, Fir Vale, comes as potholes continue to be a major issue across Sheffield, with councillors from all parties facing growing pressure from residents over deteriorating roads.
Earlier this month, Sheffield’s Labour group launched a city-wide “pothole reporting blitz”, arguing that roads had been left to crumble and calling for faster repairs from highways contractor Amey.
Now, residents have been told Hinde House Crescent will undergo a full resurfacing programme.
Work is scheduled to start on Tuesday, August 4, and is expected to take 15 days, with crews working between 7am and 7pm each day.

During the works, there will be parking suspensions, as well as no waiting or loading restrictions in the affected area to allow the resurfacing to take place safely.
Green Party Burngreave ward councillor Mustafa Ahmed said he had been campaigning for improvements to the road for several months and welcomed confirmation that the work would now go ahead.
He said: “The good news I can give is that this will be resurfaced for the residents and local community.”
Coun Ahmed added that he was pleased to see the long-awaited improvements finally taking place after months of pushing for action.
The resurfacing forms part of ongoing efforts to improve Sheffield’s road network amid widespread concerns about potholes and the condition of streets across the city.
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns over damaged roads, while councillors have continued to press for repairs and longer-lasting maintenance rather than temporary fixes.
