Chicken restaurant plans for former Sheffield cinema move closer with planning boost
Scheme in pipeline for high profile city centre site
A restaurant chain’s plans to open up in part of the former Gaumont cinema has taken a step forward.
Sheffield Council has approved plans to use part of the pavement at Barker’s Pool in front of an empty unit in the remodelled building, which is earmarked to be the site of a new Wingstop chicken restaurant.

Pictures show how a landmark Sheffield city centre building will look, under plans for a new restaurant for the site.
Last week, the council had approved plans for air conditioning units, condenser units, fridge condenser units and ducting to be fitted to the back of the building as part of the scheme. Now it has approved plans for alterations to the shopfront, changes to allow seats outside, and changes to allow branded barriers.
