Buses on one of Sheffield's busiest roads could soon trigger traffic lights to speed up journeys
Buses will use new technology to trigger traffic signals as they approach
Buses travelling along one of Sheffield's main roads will soon be able to automatically trigger traffic light changes to make journeys faster.

Road improvements costing a total of £915,223 will mean that buses travelling on the A61 Chesterfield Road will use new technology to trigger traffic signals as they approach.
The scheme will include signal optimisation work plus improved waiting facilities and real time information at bus stops.
A yellow box junction will be installed at the junction of Derbyshire Lane.
The budget for the scheme is set to go forward for approval at Sheffield City Council's finance and performance policy committee next Monday, June 13.
The funding for the project has come from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA). It is part of the Connecting Sheffield programme of work to encourage people to use the bus more by providing improved facilities.
Connecting Sheffield also aims to get more people to walk and cycle.
