Investigation: Betty Clark died from injuries

On September 11, 2025, Betty, who was also known as Elizabeth, was found with serious injuries in her home on Peveril Close, in Kiveton Park.

After being taken to hospital for treatment, the 91-year-old later died as a result of her injuries on November 12.

An investigation was launched by South Yorkshire Police’s Major Crime Unit, and extensive enquiries including complex forensic analysis and thorough CCTV trawls were undertaken.

Three men have since been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to Betty's death and all have been bailed.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Detectives believe that Betty sustained her injuries on September 10 and that her bank card was stolen in this attack.

“Her card was then used to purchase scratch cards and alcohol in the Kiveton Park area between Wednesday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 16.”

Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Adam Watkinson said: "It has been a year since Betty was attacked.

“A year in which her family have had to live every day with an unimaginable grief they did not deserve.

"All while knowing those responsible for this callous assault remain free to go about their lives.

“I know Betty is greatly missed by her family and our priority remains the same - to provide answers for her loved ones and ensure those involved in this incident are brought before the courts.

"We have made progress in our investigation, arresting three people, but we continue to appeal to our communities for any information which could assist us in securing justice for Betty.

"Did you see something suspicious in the Kiveton Park area between September 10 and 16?

“Any information, no matter small, could prove to be crucial to our investigation.

“If you know something, please get in touch.”
