Police hunt dog taken from Sheffield animal sanctuary and then sold hours later

Police in Sheffield are hunting a dog which was rehomed from an animal sanctuary – and then put up for sale just a few hours later.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, known as Sid, was rehomed by Sheffield’s Mill House Animal Sanctuary over the weekend.

But within hours of leaving, he was sold after an advertisement appeared online.

Officers are now urging the person who bought Sid to come forward.

The woman, 27, was allowed by staff to rehome the two year old – but police believe she sold him after being released into her care.

The woman later failed to attend the Sanctuary at her follow-up appointment and enquiries made since have shown that the contact details provided were false.

Officers are now keen to speak to the person who bought Sid in good faith to come forward and help them with their enquiries.
