John Quays shared this dramatic video of firefighters battling leaping flames on Fieldhead Road, just off Abbeydale Road, this morning.

“I was woken up when I heard several loud bangs over the course of 10 minutes or so. Then I saw blue emergency lights shining through my window so I poked my head out the window and to my surprise two firemen were charging toward the fire,” he said.

“The cajones one must require to run toward a car on fire like that. With the intensity of the fire, it surely couldn't have been that far from the fuel tank fully igniting.”

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said it was called at 4.59am and sent one fire engine. He added that the fire took around 15 minutes to fully extinguish and said it had started accidentally.
