Tributes as woman in her 30s dies in Sheffield flat fire

Sheffield residents have paid tribute to the woman in her 30s who died as a result of a flat fire in Lowedges in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, September 3.

Firefighters were called to the house on Becket Road at around 2am, and pronounced the woman dead at the scene after they entered the building.

One fire engine from Lowedges attended the fire.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are now leading an investigation into the cause of the fire, and are being assisted by the police.

Commenting on social media, neighbours expressed sadness over the death of such a young person.

One person wrote: “Oh dear. So upsetting reading this. R.I.P. young lady and God Bless your family and friends. So sad.”

And another posted: “So very sad thinking of her family this is close to where I live.”

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
