If you see a masked postman being carried up your drive by a miniature version of Harry Potter, or Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer this week it’s probably Jonathan Schofield.

The dad of four has been dressing up in crazy costumes this week to raise money for Comic Relief Red Nose Day and so far has raised over £200.

He said: “Comic Relief Red Nose Day is a charity I like to donate whatever I can to every year, only this year I wanted to donate more, so I bought myself some wacky outfits and set up a ‘Just Giving’ page and people have very generously donated either to my page or to me in person.“A good laugh is what we all need in these hard times and us posties can do that for the public as well as raising money for a good cause.”

Jonathan has done stints at delivery offices in Chesterfield and Eastwood in Nottinghamshire, “About a year ago I heard that my former colleagues at Eastwood were dressing up on delivery to raise money for the NHS as we were at the beginning of the national lockdown.“More recently we’ve had a new recruit at Sheffield South who volunteers as a Samaritan and likes to put smiles on people’s faces by dressing up once a week.“They have all inspired me and got me thinking, why can’t I do that?”
