She said: “Let me tell you, I have an incredible history with Sheffield.”

She added: “Sheffield holds such a special place in my heart after being such a big part of my career over the last 30 years, from writing and recording ‘Say You’ll Be There’ with the Spice Girls in the city, to our first stadium show at Don Valley, and my first ever solo gig at the iconic Leadmill.

“Growing up in Liverpool, football is in my DNA, so seeing the women’s game continue to grow from grassroots to the international stage is incredibly exciting.

“To now be part of that journey at the oldest football club in the world makes me so proud.

“I’m loving the new kit and will be wearing it with pride. I can’t wait to cheer the team on from the sidelines!”

The club has confirmed that all of the money raised from the sale of the Sheffield FC Women's shirt will go directly to supporting the women's team and grassroots girls' football initiatives.
