A Met Office yellow ‘be aware’ warning of snow and ice started at around 9.30am on Saturday and is valid until 6pm.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Southward-moving areas of sleet and snow are likely to give 2-5cm of snow over higher ground above 200-300m while at lower levels snow accumulations will be smaller and patchier in nature with 1-2cm of snow for some.
“Where snow falls, expect slippery pavements and tricky driving conditions,” the added.
