Blades fans are being asked to join in with a round of applause during tonight’s match, to honour Sheffield United fan Frank Hearnshaw who died suddenly after a cancer battle.

Friends of Frank are asking fellow Blades to commemorate his life with a one-minute round of applause during the 56th minute of tonight’s (Tuesday, September 1, 2026) home game against Bolton Wanderers.

“This would have meant the world to him.

“‘Once a Blade, always a Blade’.”

Frank’s loved ones are also coming together to raise the funds needed for his funeral.

A GoFundMe page launched by Donna Dey reads: “As we all know the sudden passing of Frank, cancer really got hold of him so cruel but is now pain free and at peace.

“I’m sure we all want to give him the best send off he deserves bless him.

“He did mention he wanted a horse and cart lol, we all know Frank he would want to go out in style!

“With as much fuss as possible, so can we all please club together for him any amount will help so much to the funeral costs ect.”

A target of £13,000 to cover the cost of the funeral has been set, and kind-hearted contributors had already raised £9,180 at the time of writing.
