The shopping centre is hosting a creepy crawly ‘petting zoo’ handling event on Friday, October 28. Shoppers with a love for squeamish chills will get to and hold a variety of critters provided by Leanimals Mobile Zoo – including millipedes, cockroaches, snakes, geckos, Nipper the Scorpion, and Isabelle the Chilean Rose Tarantula.

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “In the spirit of Halloween, we’re welcoming a host of very creepy crawlies to the centre to offer visitors an experience to remember. It’s a brilliant chance for shoppers to try something a little different this half term, while supporting a fantastic local cause.

“The wellbeing of our community is incredibly important to us, so we’re proud to partner with Roundabout to help support local young people facing homelessness.”

Customers can take part in the session in return for a donation to Roundabout, a local charity offering support to young people facing homelessness in South Yorkshire. As well as providing safe and secure accommodation and a range of homeless prevention services, Roundabout helps young people to develop independent living skills to break the cycle of homelessness.

The handling session will run from 1pm – 5pm on Friday, October 28, on the Upper Level next to the Giving Box.
