Mystery surrounds stone-carved NHS tribute which appeared overnight on Sheffield green

The beautifully carved statue, with the National Health Service letters etched into the heart at its centre has been warmly received as the latest – and certainly one of the most creative – show of support for our health workers.
But there is much debate over just who is responsible for the piece of art which landed on Loxley Village Green last week.

Hide AdInitially, many people suspected it was the work of the Sheffield artist ‘Stoneface’, whose real name is Andrew Vickers.
But local historian Ron Clayton believes the inititals it bears, WN, mean that is unlikely.
Another name being bandied about, he said, is ‘Wood Nymph’, though he doesn’t know where this suggestion originates from and is not aware of an artist using that name.
