Coronavirus death toll in Sheffield hits 150 as 429 more patients die across England

The coronavirus death toll in Sheffield has hit 150, after another six people with the virus who were being treated at hospitals in the city died.

Across England, another 429 deaths were confirmed today, with the daily rise down again from 482 on Sunday and 784 on Saturday.

In total, 14,829 people have died with COVID-19 at hospitals across England, and there have been 16,489 UK deaths.

The true figure is expected to be much higher as deaths in care homes and elsewhere in the community are not included in the daily updates.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, two more deaths were confirmed in Rotherham, taking the total there to 60, while there was one more in Barnsley, where 51 people have now died.

In Doncaster, where 55 people have died, no further deaths were confirmed.

Across South Yorkshire, there have been 2,795 confirmed cases, with 1,598 in Sheffield, 265 in Doncaster, 478 in Rotherham and 454 in Barnsley.
