Man fighting for his life after crash in Sheffield

A driver who crashed into traffic lights after suffering a medical episode at the wheel in Sheffield is fighting for his life.

Police have appealed for information following the collision on Bunrgreave Road in Sheffield this morning, Tuesday, March 30, at around 6.05am.

Officers said that a silver Vauxhall Astra had been travelling along Minna Road when it crashed into a bollard and a brick wall, close to the junction with Burngreave Road.

The vehicle then struck traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing outside the Premier Convenience Store, close to Burngreave Street.

Police said that the driver, a man who is in his 50s, is believed to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition this evening.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting the incident number 146 of today’s date, Tuesday, March 30.
