Mum-of-two Caryn Moffatt, aged 58, of Nether Green, will this Saturday set off on the gruelling 15-mile Sheffield Round Walk in aid of the Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
Caryn has been under the care of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for the last two and a half years after she was discovered to have a faulty gene which left her susceptible to various forms of cancer.

She said: “When I first moved to Sheffield I didn’t like seeing Weston Park as it brought back lots of memories but I will always remember what they did for my family and how supportive they were.
“And now I have needed to use them quite a lot over the last couple of years so it is also an acknowledgement about how much they have helped me as well.”
Caryn was diagnosed with MSH2 Muir Torre (Lynch) Syndrome in 2018, a gene fault which is thought to have caused her to contract skin cancer and may be responsible for giving her breast cancer as well.

Caryn will therefore set off on the Sheffield Round Walk this Saturday, a 15-mile trek which begins and ends at Endcliffe Park, taking in the best of the south-west of the city’s world-class scenery.
She said: “It’s a long way but I’m pretty confident I can do it.
“The weather looks ok at the moment. I said we might cancel if there is a tropical storm but it looks like it’s going to be fine.”
