Such was one woman’s love of the tasty treats, she has been given a very special send-off – with a little help from the former Gogglebox star Kate Bottley.
The priest and Radio 2 presenter, who grew up in Sheffield today described how Beres had made a final delivery for the funeral of one of its biggest fans, who was sent to her final resting place with the snack.
She tweeted: “A funeral for Maureen, fan of Elvis and Pork Sandwiches. @BeresInfo delivered and were waiting as we came out into the sunshine to the King singing ‘Hound Dog’.
"Me and her granddaughter went back in to the chapel and made sure a sandwich went with her. #sheffield #porksandwich #beres.”
The gesture has been praised on social media, where one person called it a ‘lovely thing to do’ and another described how her dad was sent off with a bag of Percy Pigs.
