Speaking about his local roots, he said: “I always knew I wanted to work in a space beyond the salon floor but I could never have pictured such an exciting and credible client roster. Being born and raised in Barnsley keeps me grounded and my favourite way to celebrate is a good chat with my nan, who’s still in Barnsley, on the phone.”

Pete is widely regarded as one of the most sought after celebrity stylists in the industry and has been recognised for his achievements with a nomination for Session Hairdresser of the Year award.

The category recognises artists whose work shapes trends, drives creative direction and consistently delivers outstanding visual storytelling through hair.

“It’s so exciting to be nominated for Session Hairdresser of the Year 2026,” Pete said.

“Being born and raised in Barnsley to styling hair for incredible global talents like Millie Bobby Brown has been an amazing journey. Session styling is such a dynamic and creatively rewarding part of the industry, and I’m constantly inspired by the opportunity to collaborate, innovate and tell stories through hair. To receive recognition on this level is something I’m really humbled by.”

As part of the next stage of the competition, nominees will submit a collection of eight photographic images created within the past 12 months, showcasing the breadth of their creativity, technical ability and artistic direction. Collections will be judged by an esteemed panel of leading industry experts alongside UK and international beauty and consumer media.

Mark Moloney, Managing Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, commented: “Every year, the British Hairdressing Awards recognise the exceptional creativity, dedication and innovation that drive our industry forward, and the calibre of this year’s nominees is truly outstanding.

“British Hairdresser of the Year remains one of the most respected accolades in professional hairdressing, celebrating artists who not only set trends but continue to influence the future of global hairdressing. We are proud to honour the talent, passion and vision that these nominees bring to our industry.”

The British Hairdressing Awards 2026 is set to take place on Monday at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. Bringing together the biggest names in the industry from emerging talent to globally recognised names.
