Coronavirus: Fans wear face masks to Hillsborough as Man City beat Sheffield Wednesday

Although face masks are routinely been worn by some residents in Sheffield, they have become more common as fears about the spread of coronavirus increase.

Public Heath England advice on the spread of coronavirus does not suggest the routine wearing of masks, but they are now a common sight.

Elsewhere, as coronavirus fears mount, it has been announced that all sport in Italy is to be played behind closed doors to avoid large crowds gathering.

England’s men’s and women’s Six Nations rugby matches and all Serie A football games will be played behind closed doors until April 3 in a bid to contain the spread of the virus, the government has said.
