There are many dogs that are ready to be adopted at rescue shelters in and around Sheffield.
We have taken a look at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, in North Anston, and Helping Yorkshire Poundies, near Rotherham, to show you just a selection of the latest newcomers.
They are all looking for the right homes to suit their unique needs - whether it be an active and busy household with lots of stimulation, or a peaceful household with peaceful country walks.
If you are interested in any of the 11 dogs below, please visit the relevant website for more details on how to start the adoption process.

5. Teddy, a 4 year old French Bulldog
Teddy is being cared for by Helping Yorkshire Poundies. He gives the best cuddles and will lie on his back on your knees while you stroke his belly. He loves people, walks and food. He is a very happy little chappy who is desperate to be back in a home with lots of love and attention. He appears to be housetrained and is happy to snuggle up in his bed when noone is around. He can get stressed around other dogs and so should be the only pet in the home. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies

6. Dudley, an 8 month old Dalmatian cross
Dudley is being cared for by Thornberry. He is a very handsome boy, who is very big and still has a lot of growing to do. He is best suited to owners who have experience with large breeds. He could potentially live with another neutered dog who is tolerant of a big boy. He loves toys and is usually carrying one with him around the site. Dudley is very friendly to everyone he meets – he could live with children aged 12+ in his new home and would benefit from a secure private garden. | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

7. Billy, a 10 year old Staffy cross
Billy is being cared for by Helping Yorkshire Poundies. He had been abandoned in a property and was terribly underweight and limping. Since entering HYP’s care he has put on weight and is now on pain relief for his sore knees. He doesn’t let this stop him as he loves to run and walk. He is very fit and super friendly. He is housetrained and knows lots of commands. He has shown no issues around other dogs. He is doing better at being left alone in his kennel, but when he moves into his new home he will need time and patience while he settles. He is so sad and desperately needs a loving home. | Helping Yorkshire Poundies

8. Peaches, a 9 month old Lurcher
Peaches is being cared for by Thornberry. She is being rehomed as sadly her previous family felt they were unable to manage her energy levels as well as a young child. She would love to live with another loving family home. She is very friendly – VERY fast and loves to zoomy. She will impress you by giving you a sit and paw combo. Peaches would benefit from ongoing training and loves to play with other similar sized dogs with a similar playstyle. She could live with children 8+ in a home who have time to manage children and a bouncy girl. | Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
