This week, The Star has looked at two shelters in and around Sheffield that are working hard to rehome many gorgeous dogs.
Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, in North Anston, and the city branch of Blue Cross are both advertising many pups that could transform your life for the better.
From ex-racing greyhounds that have never known life within a house, to a Staffy that was abandoned after 11 years of roaming the streets with their homeless owner, it is undeniable that you can also transform these dogs’ lives for the better, too.

21. Jeanie the Terrier cross
Jeanie is a very gentle senior girl who was brought in as a stray. Despite being 10 years old, Jeanie loves to play ball, so much so when she was found roaming she had one with her. She has had a very gentle temperament and walks nicely on the lead. The team at Thornberry is happy to introduce Jeanie to older children aged 12+ She is friendly with dogs out and about and clean in her kennel. 22. Griselda the French Bulldog cross
Gorgeous Griselda is a sweet girl and is currently in a foster home. Griselda is two years old, and a real lap dog. She needs a home with a secure garden of part of her adoption criteria.
