Motorcycle rider, 16, suffers serious injuries after crashing bike while attempting to flee Sheffield police

The collision took place in Southey Hill in the Southey area of Sheffield yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, August, 27, 2024), following which Southey Hill and Dryden Road were closed for several hours.

Hide AdA South Yorkshire Police spokesperson told The Star: “While on patrol in Sheffield yesterday just after 2pm, Motorcycle and Rural Crime Officers sighted an electric Surron motorcycle on Deerlands Avenue.
“Officers requested the rider of the motorcycle to stop.
“The rider failed to stop and, in an attempt to flee from officers, was involved in a road traffic collision on Southey Hill, at the junction with Dryden Road.
“The rider, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to hospital, where he remains with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
“We have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).”
