Andy’s Man Club has launched a new weekly peer support group at Meadowhall to support men’s mental health and provide a welcoming space to talk in a safe and supportive environment.

The free sessions will take place at Meadowhall every Monday (except bank holidays) at 7pm, within Meadowhall’s Management Suite.

Andy’s Man Club is a UK-wide peer support group helping men through difficult times by offering a safe, judgement-free space for those aged 18 and above to talk.

Sessions are free, confidential and run on a first name-only basis, with no need to book.

The charity was founded in 2016 after Andy Roberts, a 23-year-old father from Halifax, sadly took his own life.

In response, his mother Elaine and brother-in-law Luke set up a free talking group for men facing difficulties, with a mission to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health through conversation.

Today, Andy’s Man Club supports more than 6,800 men every Monday evening, across 350 locations nationwide, from Dingwall in the Highlands to Launceston in Cornwall, as well as online.

Meadowhall is now providing a well-connected location, with free parking and transport links, helping make support even more accessible.

Lucas Whitehead, head of partnerships at Andy’s Man Club, said: “We are hugely grateful to Meadowhall for providing space to host one of our weekly sessions.

“When people think of Sheffield, they think of Meadowhall, and this will add real strength to our presence in the city.

“With fantastic transport links available too, we are doing everything we can to be accessible to any man in Sheffield who needs support.”

Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said: “We’re proud to welcome Andy's Man Club to Meadowhall.

“‘It’s okay to talk’ is a simple message, but it can mean a lot when someone’s having a tough time.

“Meadowhall is a familiar place for many, so we hope hosting sessions here will help more men across Sheffield feel comfortable coming along to seek the support they need.”

The launch builds on Meadowhall’s partnership with the charity at Christmas, where it highlighted awareness of the support available for people of all ages experiencing loneliness and isolation over the festive period.
