Man's body found near burning car in Sheffield

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man’s body near to a burning car in Sheffield.

The body was found at around 10.15pm yesterday, Wednesday, September 30, on Mortimer Road, Bradfield.

South Yorkshire Police said the death is being treated as ‘unexplained’.

In a statement, the force said: “Police were called at around 10.15pm last night following reports from the fire service that a vehicle was on fire on Mortimer Road in Stannington.

“A body of a man was found near to the vehicle. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“While formal identification has not yet taken place, his family has been informed.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”

The death of the 63-year-old, who has not yet been named, is also being treated as ‘unexplained'.
