Man 'seriously injured' in Saturday night Ecclesall Road incident

A man was seriously injured in an incident on Sheffield’s Ecclesall Road last night (Saturday, September 19).

An air ambulance took off from Endcliffe Park following a crash on Hunter’s Bar roundabout.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Ecclesall Road, Sheffield shortly after 5.30pm today (19 September) to reports that a man was seriously injured.

“The man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance.”

One witness said that a car had been involved in a collision, and when the driver attempted to flee they crashed into another vehicle.

Others said traffic on the road was at a standstill and the air ambulance had been circling overhead for some time.

Police advised drivers to avoid the area last night.
