The 17 Sheffield areas worst hit by Covid-19 this week, including one with 14 new cases

There have been three or more confirmed new cases of coronavirus in 37 different areas in Sheffield in the week from September 7 to 13.

This comes according to the latest regional figures collected by the Office of National Statistics, which breaks down the number of new cases in every area in England.

Sheffield remains on the Government’s ‘watchlist’, which includes areas where the virus is spreading quickly which may be potential locations for local lockdown measures to be implemented.

The infection rate for the virus in Sheffield has been increasing in recent weeks, and now stands at 43.1 new cases per 100,000 of the population in a week, according to the latest date released yesterday (September 17).

Health bosses in the city have warned that people should ‘not be complacent’ as the number of people being hspitalised with the virus increases.

Of the areas in Sheffield with new cases, 17 had six or more new confirmed cases of covid-19 between September 7 and September 13.
