‘Lovely man’: Police investigation continues into horror crash after one man killed and another seriously injured

A South Yorkshire Police probe into a collision in which one man died and another was seriously injured is continuing today.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the A618 Pleasley Road, between Whiston and Aughton, at around 8am yesterday.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Tributes have poured in on Facebook with many describing the victim as a ‘lovely man’.

The crash occurred close to Ulley Country Park.

The fatally injured man has not yet been named. His family is being supported by specially trained police officers.

Pleasley Road was closed for a number of hours yesterday while crash scene investigation work was carried out.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics were all deployed to the crash scene and an air ambulance landed.
