This was the devastating damage thought to have been caused to a wall in Doncaster last night by the power of Storm Gertrude.

Hickleton Road, in Hickleton was closed in both directions between the Hickleton junction and the Barnburgh junction, because of the incident this morning

The road was due to re-open by 11am after clear-up work was carried out to deal with the damaged 20m strech of wall.

A Doncaster Council spokesman said this morning: “The wall on Hickleton Road that had partially fallen down is being repaired, and the road will be fully re-opened within the hour. There are no signs of any collision etc so we can only assume this was wind-related.”

No injuries are reported as a result of the incident.

Police were called out after the collapse at around 5.46am, with the road closed for several hours.
