Darren Ferguson has told the Free Press that he would like to bring the 21-year-old striker back to the Keepmoat Stadium – and Crystal Palace are open to the idea.

Anderson scored three goals in nine appearances on loan at Rovers last season.

He also impressed everyone at the club with his attitude, enthusiasm and application, before breaking his leg against Rochdale in November and returning to Palace.

Anderson was back running in April and hopes to be fully fit in time for pre-season training with the Eagles.

“Keshi Anderson is certainly one we would try and bring back,” said Ferguson, at the end of last season.

“And Crystal Palace are quite keen on that happening.

“Obviously the boy’s still miles away in terms of his fitness.

“But he knows he’s going to play and he likes it here.”

New rules stipulate that Football League clubs can now only sign players on half and full-season loans.

Despite dropping into League Two, Ferguson is confident he can still attract loan players from the Premier League.

“I think there’s one or two clubs in the Premier League that we’ve got good relationships with,” he said.

“I think we do it the right way. The lads that come here get coached right, they like the atmosphere and they get good information.”

Gary McSheffrey this week became Rovers’ sixth summer signing, while goalkeeper Marko Marosi also penned a new one-year contract.
