The World Championships take place this August in Glasgow and the European Championships are in Germany next year.

In addition to the crew competition, the young people also competed in solo and duo competitions and 18 qualified to compete in Worlds and European Champs in these categories.

Streetbeat director Kim Oakley said: “We are all so excited. We now need to start fundraising to enable the young people to attend.”

Early in the year the crew also had success at XM Events winning first place in March.

Kim said: “During the time that our younger crew is competing at the World Championships this August, our older crew are performing and training in Los Angeles, USA. They fly out on August 18.

“Selection for our elite crews is by audition. We audition annually for new dancers. The next auditions will take place in early September.”

The elite dancers are provided with training from many prestigious choreographers including Lukas McFarlane, Tom Shilcock, Matt Flint, Joss Arnott, 2Faced Dance Company, ILL-Abilities plus many more and in addition receive weekly intensive training.

They are also offered amazing opportunities – projects that they are currently part of are: The Dance Whispers Project – where the young people are attending training at Sadler’s Wells in London working with NYDC; DNweekeND – working on a production with NoFit State Circus; Tony Peers Productions Open Air Theatre; and Cirque de la Rue Theatre Production.
