Hearty portions and plenty of choice at Sheffield pub

This week we went to the Wisewood Inn, on Loxley Road, a local friendly pub overlooking the beautiful valley.

It is a traditional pub upstairs, with several stuffed animals watching you order from the walls!

There’s a modern look cellar bar downstairs that caters for special occasions.

There is a varied menu with dishes ranging from tapas to local favourites such as pizza, steak and chips and burgers, throwing in a German Bratwurst, so catering for every taste.

A selection of craft beers, German beers and Loxley ales makes for a good quality choice of drinks.

No room for improvement here, we found good quality food, locally sourced and they have their own onsite micro-brewery with exclusive access to their own Loxley spring.

Mum’s fish and chips had a golden batter and my fishcakes were delicately smoked hadock filled with melting mozzarella.

It’s extremely good value, we paid £50 for four of us, the two starters were easily shareable, lovely mains and drinks. Those starters featured chicken wings with chilli-laced crispy skin and nachos were shared.

Great attentive service is also worth shouting about.

All the family thoroughly enjoyed the food, it felt like we had a proper home cooked meal.

Good sized meals  meant we came away with two full up lads. The boys really loved their juicy venison and meaty Spanish-themed burgers.

The pub has several events on through the year.

The next is on March 5 and is a whiskey and cheese tasting, with five specially selected whiskeys and a block of cheese that compliments each one.
