Fire and rescue crews attempt to rescue woman 'trapped in void' in Sheffield house

Fire engines and ambulances are at a house in Wincobank where a woman fell through the floor of her house and became trapped ‘in a void’ beneath the ground level.

Honeysuckle Road is blocked off while emergency services attempt to rescue the woman, who ‘remains very much trapped’ according to a spokesperson.

The ‘void’ is described by firefighters as “like a cellar but not a cellar”.

The South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson added: “Crews from Elm Lane and Parkway are in attendance and are being supported by a USAR team from West Yorkshire.

"The lady is still very much trapped and they’re working to rescue her as we speak. Injury wise I’m told she’s fine at the moment.

"It is worth noting that she is still stuck. This is still a live incident, so this could change at any time.”
