Extraordinary woman to speak at Isle Lions dinner
A round the world runner who has undertaken extraordinary challenges will be the guest speaker at an annual dinner next month.

The Isle of Axholme Lions will welcome Rosie Swale-Pope, the only person ever to have run right around the world, unsupported, to their event at Haxey Memorial Hall.
Lions President, Peter Lindley, said: “We are very privileged indeed to have Rosie as our guest speaker.
“She ran more than 20,000 miles around the world and towed everything she needed on a sledge or wheeled cart. The epic run took her nearly five years and she faced numerous dangers, not least temperatures down to minus 50 degrees Celsius, in places like Siberia and Alaska.
“Rosie has completed many other extraordinary challenges, for example running 27 marathons in 27 days and sailing single-handed across the Atlantic in a 17 foot boat. But it is the round the world run which captures everybody’s imagination.”
