Disposable BBQs removed from sale after fires ravage Peak District

Shops in the Peak District have stopped selling disposable barbecues after a series of fires swept through the national park.

Barrons announced that the items had been temporarily withdrawn from sale at the Spar stores it runs in both Hope and Hathersage.

Hathersage fire station, whose crews had a busy weekend battling blazes in the area, praised the decision.

They described how four men were seen running off and tents and a camp fire were found.

More than 8,000 people have signed a petition calling for disposable barbecues to be banned since it was launched over the weekend.
