Sheffield UKIP protest: Big police presence as anti-fascist demonstrators gather at Cathedral
Anti-fascist protesters have gathered in Sheffield city centre ahead of a UKIP march.
Scores of people with flags and banners assembled outside the Cathedral ahead of a rival UKIP march starting in Tudo Square.
The demonstrations have sparked a huge police presence, including mounted officers seen outside Marks & Spencer on Fargate.

Police also positioned an illuminated screen near the Cathedral setting out the rules and routes for today’s protest and counter-protest, both of which are heading to the Wicker.
The two groups have been told to finish in designated areas on either side of the River Don to keep them apart.

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) is planning to gather in Sheffield city centre at 1pm before walking on a ‘prescribed route’ to Blonk Street on the Wicker.

Police say counter-protesters can gather on the Grey-to-Green area of Castlegate, on the other side of the River Don.
Both protests must end by 3.30pm, police say.
