Locals described around half a dozen fire engines at the scene as crews used water to try to stop the flames and to stop them spreading to nearby trees.

Councillor Mustafa Ahmed, who represents the area on Syheffield Council, said: “It looks bad. I want to say a big thank you to the fire service for the quick response in fighting the fire.”

Update: South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire is now out. Parkway and Central firefighters attended.”
