It also collided with another car and a lamppost, knocking the lamppost down.

The section of track where the crash occurred is currently out of use due to a sink hole which has disrupted services on the Crystal Peak route.

South Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were both sent to the incident.

Police confirmed the upturned car had collided with another vehicle and a lamppost.

The force said: “The tram tracks are out of use. Officers attended and the driver is believed to have been suffering a medical episode.”

They added an ambulance attended the incident.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been approached for more information.
