Doncaster Rovers: Kick on from Bradford late show - Butler

Andy Butler hopes Doncaster Rovers can carry on where they left off at Bradford City when they resume their relegation battle this weekend.

The defender, recently recalled to the starting eleven, was arguably the only outfield player to do himself justice in what proved to be another flat display in West Yorkshire for the large part.

But Rovers came alive in the last few minutes following Nathan Tyson’s goal and, although it proved to be only a consolation on the day, Butler hopes the reaction it sparked will flow in Saturday’s home game with Peterborough United.

“I think you could see some belief when we scored our goal,” said Butler.

“It made the last five minutes very interesting - and hopefully we can carry that on to next Saturday.

“Let’s concentrate on the positives in that we’re not in the bottom four, we scored that goal and hopefully we can kick on from there.

“We know our target now of what we have to get and that’s what we’ll work towards. We’re still confident we’ll stay up.”

Rovers are now without a win in 12 games.

“It’s not enjoyable for all the players, staff and the whole club,” said Butler.

“We have to be better now and that’s what we will continue to strive to do.

“We conceded another early goal on Saturday and we need to give ourselves a platform, something to build on. We’re not doing that at the moment.

“We’re all working hard, everyone’s pulling in the right direction, but it’s little bits of quality we have to improve on.

“We have to stop conceding early goals.”

Rovers could drop into the bottom four tonight depending on the outcome of Oldham’s match at home to Blackpool.
