Fundraiser launched for "much-loved family who give so much to others" after blaze guts Rotherham home
The GoFundMe set up by concerned community member has already topped £2,000
A fundraiser was launched to help a “much loved” Rotherham family whose home and businesses premises were gutted by a fire.
The blaze on Dalton Lane, Dalton, on Monday, October 5 saw police shut the area to traffic and even led to a nearby primary school opening late.
Now, a community fundraiser has now been set up in aid of the family, who have lost “cherished belongings” as well as damage to their “livelihood and daily workspace”.
The home is believed to be the premises of Julie’s Castle on the Hill childminding business, run by Julie Ramskill.
Victoria Bullen – who set up the fundraiser – said in a post online: “Thankfully, Julie, Pat and their family got out safe, but the damage to their home is substantial.
“Because they also run their business from home, this fire has impacted not only their personal living space and cherished belongings, but also their livelihood and daily workspace.
“Julie and Pat have dedicated so much time, warmth, and care to supporting local families and our wider community over the years.
“In true Julie fashion, being the fighter she is, she has insisted that they will be okay because of insurance and hasn't asked for a single thing.
“But as ‘Julie’s community’ we love them and have spent all day worrying and wondering how we can help, we simply cannot sit back and do nothing.
“While insurance will eventually help with the long-term rebuilding, that process takes time.
“Every donation - no matter how small - will go directly to Julie, Pat, and their family to ease the practical burden as they begin to rebuild their home and business.
