Youths sign ‘Acceptable Behaviour Contracts’ after trouble in Sheffield suburb

Since children have been off school because of the coronavirus pandemic, reports of anti-social behaviour in Woodhouse have risen.

They have been accused of riding their bikes dangerously in the suburb, including the wrong way on the one-way system.

There have also been reports of verbal abuse and intimidation.

In response, youths and their parents were invited to Moss Way police station, where Parent Advisory Letters were handed out and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts were signed.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We have had lots of reports of groups of youths congregating outside City Living in Woodhouse in large groups and being verbally abusive to members of the public.

“Local forums have been reporting that people have been unable to use the shops due to being intimidated by this large group.

“They have also been riding their pushbikes in a dangerous manner by riding the wrong way on the one way system in Woodhouse and also by riding directly in front of cars on the main road.

“It is clear that Coronavirus has had an impact as none of them are currently at school so are spending time in the village.

“After a lot of hard work, the main youths have been identified and invited into the police station with parents and received Parent Advisory letters and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts. Parents have been really supportive so far.”
